The University of San Francisco has partnered with Clipper Direct
to offer benefits eligible employees and part-time faculty
the opportunity to make pre-tax contributions to their Clipper Card.
ELIGIBILITY
Pre-Tax Contributions: Benefits Eligible Employees and Part-Time Faculty are eligible to make pre-tax contributions.
Commuter Subsidy: Benefits Eligible Employee that do not have a parking permit are eligible for the Commuter Subsidy. The Commuter Subsidy is up to $65 toward the cost of an employee's monthly commute. Employees who take advantage of this Subsidy must contribute at least $5 pre-tax toward their commuting expenses as well so $5 of the employee's total Clipper Direct order will be reflected as a pre-tax paycheck deduction.

Please take into account these notes as you enroll with Clipper Direct as a USF employee:

CALCULATIONS
If you are ineligible for the Commuter Subsidy, your entire Clipper Direct order will be reflected on your paycheck as an employee pre-tax deduction. If you are eligible for the commuter subsidy, your Clipper Direct order will be processed to include the mandatory $5 employee pre-tax contribution and up to $65 towards the remainder of your order before additional employee pre-tax funds are contributed:
Total Monthly Commuter Expenses - $5 Employee Pre-Tax Contribution - Commuter Subsidy = Employee Pretax Contribution
Please remember that the commuter subsidy is for the employee's monthly commute expenses.
- If you spend $70 or less per month commuting, your subsidy will be cover the cost of your commute (less your $5 contribution).
- If you spend over $70 per month commuting, your subsidy will cover $65 of your commute and any remainder will be an employee pretax deduction on your paycheck.
