Classes Offered

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

The BLS for Healthcare Providers Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

American Heart Association Heartsaver® Courses

These courses are for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory or other requirements. These courses are also designed to meet OSHA requirements.  For many of our courses, students receive a course completion card that is valid for two years.

Heartsaver CPR AED

Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult.This course teaches skills with AHA's research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students' learning of skills.

Heartsaver First Aid

American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.

Continuing Education Classes

On You Way Home "Appetizer" CEU's

These are one-hour continuing education classes covering a variety of pre-hospital and emergency medical topics. An appetizer will be provided.

PEPP (Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals)

Class: PEPP (Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals)

Instructor: Robert Audet

Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) represents a comprehensive source of prehospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. PEPP is designed to give prehospital professionals the education, skills, and confidence they need to effectively treat pediatric patients. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP specifically teaches prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.

8 Continuing Education hours awarded for EMTs and Nurses.

Request a Course for Your Department

USF EMR Service provides Heartsaver® CPR AED and Heartsaver® First Aid courses for USF campus groups and departments. In order to request a group class there must be at least 12 participants and the class must be scheduled and approved 14 days in advance. The USFEMRs will staff and provide for accommodations for the group when space and staffing is available. The standard fee of $65.00 per student applies. Please fill out the Group CPR/First AID Class request form to schedule a class.
