offering any student who is faced with the issues of pregnancy a supportive environment
that is caring, compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental.The University will strive
to offer support and services to our pregnant students to the best of our ability;
addressing issues such as classes, housing, financial assistance, health care,
as well as personal and spiritual counseling both during and after a pregnancy. If you are pregnant, or if
you know someone who is pregnant, the following resources are available at USF
and in our local community. We encourage you to contact any of the individuals
or offices listed below.

Health Promotion Services staff will advocate for pregnant students to
access resources on and off campus to meet their health needs and other
support services.
Health Insurance - http://www.aetnastudenthealth.com/
USF sponsored Health Insurance Plan administrated by Aetna covers
maternity care after the deductible ($150 per benefit year) has been
met. Medical expenses for pregnancy, childbirth and complications of
pregnancy are payable on the same basis as any other sickness. Aetna
customer service can be reached at 877.850.6036. Pregnant and
parenting students who cannot afford to pay for the health insurance
coverage should contact the HPS Office at (415) 422-6702 for
assistance.

Campus Ministry welcomes the opportunity to be of assistance to
pregnant students who will meet with trained pastoral ministers in a
caring, supportive, non-judgmental environment to consider the
spiritual dimensions. Student wishing to talk with members of their own
faith tradition, Campus ministry will connect students with those
individuals to discuss faith traditions and offer spiritual support.

The Dean of Students leads the University Life Health and Wellness Team and facilitates supporting the whole student.

The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) can assist students in
developing greater self-understanding and help resolve issues that
interfere with students optimal personal functioning.

Pregnant students are able to and encouraged to continue to live in the
residence halls. Depending on availability and need, a private room
with bathroom may be provided to a pregnant student. USF does not allow
infants or children to live on campus with their parents. Health
Promotion Services and Residence Life staff will assist parenting
students in securing housing off campus.

Disability Support Services can assist pregnant and parenting students
in making informed decisions about the course of their academic studies
and assist them in making changes that support them to continue and
complete their education. In addition, SDS coordinates lactation rooms. The lactation rooms are open 8:30 - 5:00, Monday - Friday. They are located in LM
Rossi Wing and University Center.

Pregnant and parenting students will be connected with the Financial
Aid office to determine if they are eligible for additional financial
aid and adjust their financial aid package, as students are eligible
and resources are available. Financial Aid information and counseling
is available through the One Stop Enrollment and Financial Services
office located in Lone Mountain Room 251, appointments may be made in
person or by calling One Stop at: (415) 422-2020.

The Gabriel project offers services to pregnant and parenting students
including emotional support, pastoral care and counseling, medical and
prenatal care, financial assistance, housing and adoption resources,
babysitting/transportation help, and educational and employment
opportunities.

Provides counseling and medical care to women who are making decisions
about unintended pregnancies. Complete and accurate information is
shared on all options confidentially, in a supportive, non pressured
environment.
Notes:Cross street is Powell, entrance to the office is on Sutter. By
BART, take the Powell exit and walk 4-5 blocks up Powell, just 1 block
from Union Square.
