SUSTAINABILITY
"In a general sense, is the capacity to maintain a certain process or state indefinitely. The concept of sustainability applies to all aspects of life on Earth and is commonly defined within ecological, social and economic contexts. Due to factors such as overpopulation, lack of education, inadequate financial circumstances and the actions of past generations, sustainability can be difficult to achieve."

Like the journey of a thousand miles, sustainability begins with single steps taken by hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals. USF has taken many steps across all disciplines and facets of campus life toward building a sustainable campus community.
It is important to provide leadership in three main areas:
- Education about the Environment
- Courses with Hands On Experience
- Stewardship of the Environment
- Outreach & Service to the Environment
