Andrew Nguyen, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

Andrew is currently focused on the application of semantic computing and web technologies to healthcare in an effort to break down data silos, provide true interoperability, and help computers effectively process healthcare data. Andrew is also interested in the integration and analysis of physiological sensor data to quickly and accurately detect changes in a patient's clinical state.  

Andrew is the co-founder and CTO of klaraHealth, a digital health startup that is solving the data usability problem by making it easy for anyone to work with healthcare data, with an initial focus in behavioral health and autism therapy management.

Previously, Andrew worked in the defense/aerospace and wireless semiconductor industries as an embedded software/firmware engineer.

Andrew holds a Ph.D. in Biological and Medical Informatics from the University of California, San Francisco and a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys hiking, rock climbing, SCUBA diving, and volunteering with a local search and rescue team.
