Lucia E Cantero

Assistant Professor

Lucia E. Cantero is an Adjunct Professor in the Masters of Arts in International Studies Program. She is a scholar interested in the politics of visual culture, inequality, race and consumerism in urban Brazil, especially on the cusp of mega-events. She is currently finishing her doctoral work in the Department of Anthropology and African American Studies at Yale University. Prior to that, she received her Bachelors and Masters in the School of Sciences at the University of Chicago where her thesis unpacked the hermeneutics of Afro-Cuban Art in Havana. Her work has been supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, and the Social Science Research Council. She has completed a year long lectureship at the University of Chicago.
