Sandy Brown serves as Faculty Director of the
Master's Program in Public Affairs. She received her PhD
in Geography from the University of California at Berkeley, where
her research focused on the political economy of agriculture and
food systems, development, and farm labor politics in California
and Latin America. As a postdoctoral researcher at the University
of California, Santa Cruz, she has investigated the politics of
pesticide regulation in California's strawberry industry.
Prior to graduate school, Sandy worked as a nonprofit program
director, legislative advocate, community-labor organizer, and farm
labor consultant on California's Central Coast.
