Scott Murray is a practitioner of an emerging, as-yet-unnamed field
that uses computer code as a creative medium. Often conveniently
categorized as simply "new media," Scott's work
incorporates elements of interaction design, systems design,
generative and algorithmic art, data visualization, sound design,
and video installation. He is interested in the potential of
dynamic digital systems to engage and sustain users'
engagement, as well as their ability to generate unique experiences
in collaboration with participants. His MFA research explored these
themes through interactive video installations that used computer
vision technology to track users' motion and respond
accordingly. Scott earned an AB in Environmental Theory from Vassar
College, and he received his MFA in Dynamic Media Design from the
Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He has exhibited
installations in San Francisco and Boston and taught workshops on
