Marisa's early training was in the Bay Area with many
fine teachers including Karen Morell with whom she gained her
knowledge of the Vaganova Russian ballet technique. She also
studied in the professional division of the Ailey School in New
York City. Her dancing and teaching owe much credit to Augusta
Moore with whom she has gained an in-depth somatic understanding of
body alignment, movement, and artistry. Other teaching credits
include Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, Brisbane Dance Workshop,
Stanford University, and the University of San Francisco. She has
studied in teachers' workshops with maria Vegh and David
Howard. Ms. Castillo has worked with local choreographers and has
danced with a number of companies including Peninsula Ballet
Theatre, Columbia City Baller and Santa Clara Ballet. She has been
on the faculty at ODC since 2006. She enjoys teaching all ages from
children to adults.
