Byron Sartain
Adjunct Professor, Music
Byron Sartain is currently working towards earning a Ph.D. in
Musicology from Stanford University. His research interests include
Eighteenth-Century Instrumental Music, American Music and
Socioeconomics, and Songwriting, Popular Performance Techniques,
and the Poetics of Record Production. He has received many awards
and fellowships, with the most recent being the Gabelle
Dissertation Prize Fellowship from the Stanford Humanities Center
and the Graduate Research Opportunity Award from Stanford
University School of Humanities and Sciences. He has been an
instructor and teaching assistant at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, as well as at Stanford University.
