Eleni Stecopoulos earned an A.B. in Comparative Literature from Princeton University, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from theUniversity of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in English from the University at Buffalo. She teaches rhetoric and literature courses at USF. She is the author of two books: Visceral Poetics, a study of language, literature, and medicine (forthcoming in 2014); and Armies of Compassion, a poetry collection. Some of her current research and teaching interests include pre-Socratic rhetoric, the preservation and revitalization of endangered languages, the rhetoric of social movements, and the political efficacy of art. Other writing and research interests include ecology and poetry, healing rituals and sacred landscapes in the ancient world, and medical humanities.
