Michelle Maxson

Adjunct Professor, Theater Program

Michelle is an actress with over 20 years experience performing in traditional and experimental theater. She has appeared internationally, regionally and in NYC at numerous Off Broadway venues including Cherry Lane, Culture Project, INTAR and EST. She developed original work at HERE Arts Space and Richard Foreman's Ontological-Hysteric Theatre, as well as acting in developmental workshops and readings with New York Theatre Workshop, The Lark, and American Repertory Theatre. In the Bay Area, she was a resident artist at the Climate Theater, where she was awarded a TBA CA$H Grant to develop the original piece They Are Bad People in 2009. From 2008-'11, Michelle taught creative writing in the SF County Jail and was the program director of Rising Voices, a writing and performance internship program for formerly incarcerated women. She is a member of Actors Equity and holds an MFA from the University of Tennessee.
