Samantha Smith
Instructor
Samantha Smith received her Ph.D. in Criminology, Law &
Society from the University of California, Irvine. Her B.A. is in
psychology with a minor in English from the University of
California, Los Angeles. Samantha's research has covered
issues ranging from privacy, identity, and social networking sites
to language about the war on terror. Her dissertation work focuses
on post-conflict Rwanda and changes to the constitution that affect
the way in which people discuss, remember, and respond to the 1994
genocide.
Samantha has a variety of research and practical experience,
including an internship with the GAO in Washington DC,
participating in a workshop on conflict in Derry, Ireland and
conducting fieldwork in East Africa. She has taught classes on
Criminology, Law and Inequality, Sociology of Law, Violence in
Society, and International Law and Conflict.
