Bernard von Bothmer received a B.A. (1989) with honors from Brown University, an M.A. (1993) from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. (2006) from Indiana University. His teaching and research interests include: U.S. political history; the Civil War and Reconstruction; the Progressive era through World War Two; the U.S. during and since the 1960s; and issues related to historical memory. He has reviewed books in American history for The Journal of American History, American Historical Review, Civil War History, The Journal of Southern History, History News Network, and Civil War Book Review. He is the author of Framing the Sixties: The Use and Abuse of a Decade from Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush (University of Massachusetts Press, 2010).
