Philip Ross makes sculptural artworks that combine natural and
technologically advanced materials. The projects he is engaged with
are literally grown into being, and are at once highly crafted and
naturally formed, skillfully manipulated and sloppily
organic.
Philip has taught at UC Berkeley and was a recent Porter Fellow at
UC Santa Cruz. He received his MFA from Stanford University, where
he has also taught drawing and sculpture. While working in both
traditional and experimental materials, Philip also curates
exhibitions on the relationship between art and science, most
recently putting together a show on biotechnology for the Yerba
Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
