Phil Carleton has an M.A. in English,
with a concentration in TESL from San Francisco State University.
He has taught in Europe as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He has taught all skills (reading, writing, grammar, listening and
speaking) at all levels (beginning, intermediate and advanced) in
the ESL Program at the University of San Francisco since 1977. He
speaks some Russian, after studying at the Defense Language
Institute in Monterey, California and using Russian in West Berlin.
He speaks French after studying it and living in Switzerland for
more than four years.
