Thomas A. Grossman

Associate Dean / Department Chair / Professor

Tom works to enable business school graduates to harness the power of analytics to lead their organizations. His research and teaching encompass spreadsheet engineering, business analytics, management of spreadsheets in organizations, analysis-driven process improvement, and managerial communication of analytical results.

Tom has taught at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. He served an apprenticeship in an analytics consulting firm where he built large-scale optimization systems in the United States and Scandinavia, wrote mainframe production software in more computer languages than he can remember, and learned to connect mathematics to management.

Tom is operations leader and past-president of The Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit. BAMRU is accredited by the Mountain Rescue Association and functions as part of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
