Richard Puntillo

Professor

Professor Richard Puntillo has won seven teaching awards from the School of Management since he began teaching in 1986. His research has been published in global business journals, such as the European Journal of Finance and the Journal of Emerging Markets. He was tenured and made full professor in 1998.

Professor Puntillo teaches finance courses at the MBA level, including such courses as Private Equity & Venture Capital and Capital Markets & Investment Banking.

He also has had extensive executive-level experience as both an investment and commercial
banker and has over 30 years of corporate governance experience serving on Boards of Directors in public companies.

In addition to teaching, Professor Puntillo also has an active Expert Witness practice. For example, he has been recognized as a due diligence expert and testified on customary practices in transactions involving securities underwriting due diligence, mergers & acquisitions due diligence as well as private equity and venture capital investment due diligence. He has also served as an industry expert on custom and practice in the following financial services industries: investment banking, private equity and venture capital as well as commercial and mortgage banking. Moreover, he has served as an expert witness on corporate governance custom and practice of boards of directors and executives related to mergers and acquisitions and various financing transactions, including custom and practice opinions on conflicts of interest, the role of special committees and fair price and fair process.
