Paul Lorton Jr
Professor
Professor Paul Lorton Jr. has been teaching courses in
Management Information systems at USF since 1973. Paul's
achievements have made him a visionary in the field of information
systems and technology.
Paul has a PhD in Educational Psychology and melded his
education with experience to create and design courses in Systems
Analysis and Design and Database Management Systems, which have
been extremely successful at USF. In addition to his work at USF,
Paul is a consultant for the San Francisco Unified School District
in the areas of technology use, evaluation and assessment, and
database management systems. Also within the San Francisco Unified
School District, Paul researches effective school evaluations,
electronic paperwork flow and school site processes.
In addition to all of his academic and professional work, Paul
still finds time for the arts. Paul is the Property Master of the
San Francisco Lyric Opera and has managed and performed technical
support for major productions such as Carmen, Tosca, and Romeo and
Juliet. Paul's research interests include the use of
computers in instruction, industrial changes and the history of
commerce and the open funding of the opera and the implications of
support for the performing arts. Paul has presented his research at
multiple academic conferences. Many of his articles have been
presented at the distinguished AEA Annual Conference, including,
Measuring Success in Opera: A Marketing Audit in the Performing
Arts, Evolution of a Computer Driven Evaluation Acquisition Process
and High Stakes Testing? Window or Wall? Paul is currently teaching
"Technological Perspectives for Business" and "Seminar for DBMS" at
USF.
