Laurie MacPherson

Term Associate Professor

Laurie MacPherson joined the faculty at the University of San Francisco in 1993, after spending fifteen years as a manager in the film and television industry.

While working in that industry, she was named the youngest Vice President for Lorimar Productions at MGM Studios, as well as serving as THX Technology Systems Divisional Vice President and General Manager, and Corporate Officer at Lucasfilm LTD. During that time, she lived and worked in America, Europe, and Japan. Ms. MacPherson began her business career at the Hammermill Paper Company in her hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, where she worked for three years as Special Projects Assistant to the corporation's Executive Group.

Professor MacPherson has received seven nominations for the school's Teacher of the Year award, and received that honor three times. She has served as a Corporate Advisor for creativity, innovation, and leadership at Kodak (in its ImaginationWorks and Digital Divisions, as well as Corporate Headquarters), and for general management at both IDEO Product Design Company, and the Hewlett-Packard Corporation. She is presently a Company Advisor and innovation strategist for Encore Consultants, LLC, an international music and media company headquartered in the San Francisco bay area.

Dr. MacPherson has been a contributing member of the University's Business Executive Programs, teaching applied creativity and innovation, and entrepreneurial management in the Bay Area, as well as Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China.
