Lilian Dube
Associate Professor
Lilian Dube is an Associate Professor of theology in the
Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of
San Francisco where she came in 2006. In 1999, she made history as
the first Black woman to earn a D.Th. from Stellenbosch University,
founded in 1866. She teaches courses in feminist theology, and the
interaction of African theology, religion, sexuality and HIV/AIDS.
Lilian Dube developed and leads USF in Zambia Today INTD 331-01,
a 4 credit service-learning program that explores the key drivers
of HIV and AIDS in Zambia every summer since 2010. She is the
co-author of African Initiatives
in Healing Ministry 2011, UNISA, several book chapters and
journal publications. She received the Jesuit Foundation Pedagogy
Grant in 2010 for the production of USF in Zambia Ubuntu film, 2012.
She was awarded the prestigious American Association of University
Women Fellowship in 2001 and Dorothy Cadbury Fellowship, UK in 2002
as well as doctoral fellowships from World Council of Churches, and
the Methodist Church Global Ministry Women Division. She will be a
visiting professor at Union Theological Seminary, Columbia
University in fall 2012. She has been a visiting scholar at
Garrett-Evangelical Seminary, Northwestern University (2001-2002)
and Birmingham University, UK (2002-2003) and an Academic Associate
Research Fellow in the Research Institute for Theology and Religion
at the University of South Africa (2010-2013).
