Discussion of trading companies
with trading company executives
We invited one retired and one active executives of Itochu-Trading Co. to
discuss Sogo-Shosha (= trading companies) which have very unique features
in the global market. We had the meeting at an office of HR service firm,
Shinka, which is run by Prof. Takahashi's friend. (We visited Shinka's Kyoto
office, as well.)
Itochi-Trading is one of the biggest Sogo-Shoshas in Japan. The executives
described the large-scale of Sogo-Soshas and its influence in the world market.
We also learned some issues they are having with the current recession in Japan.
