Prof. Stephanie Ohshita is Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and Management at USF. Venturing forth from the great woods of Wisconsin, Stephanie studied Chemical Engineering at MIT, then conducted environmental engineering research at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. After 5 years of environmental consulting in the Bay Area, she returned to graduate school, earning an MS and Ph.D. in environmental engineering and policy from Stanford. At USF, she teaches courses on energy, climate change mitigation, environmental risk assessment and management, and related topics. Combining engineering with tools from political economy and organizational theory, her research centers on energy-based solutions to multiple environmental problems, from local air pollution to global climate change. Currently, Stephanie is working with colleagues from Japan, China, Norway, and California to develop a new framework for East Asian energy efficiency and conservation cooperation, to address energy, economic, and climate change concerns in the region.
