Course Description and Objectives:
The Master's Field Project is the final activity of the Master of Arts
in Teaching degree. This course involves the research and writing of a
thesis or field project on an approved topic which is submitted as a formal
report in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Master's.
Class meetings will take the form of half-hour individual consultations with the instructor every two weeks and three group seminars (August 29, October 24, December 12). You will make an oral presentation at the final class meeting on Tuesday, December 12. I encourage you to find a "writing partner" (or small group) to help provide support in the research and writing process.
At the end of the course the candidate will demonstrate knowledge of the theory and skills involved in conducting research, including the following: statement of the research problem, review of the literature, methodology (data collection and analysis), and discussion of implications for teaching. This knowledge will be evidenced in the written and oral presentation of the field project or thesis.
Course Requirements:

Follow guidelines for MAT Thesis/Field Project in Handbook.
