The Tramp at the Table Next to Mine
The old man sits hunched over,
White beard resting on his chest,
Examining a map of the city
Through a magnifying glass he grasps.
After his perusal is through,
He folds his map up carefully
And proceeds to study scraps of paper
Taken from his bulging wallet.
He has a multitude of bags and parcels
Fastened to a carrier or thrown together.
He is on a journey, but the passage
Is not paid in legal tender.
