Notes While in Attendance
One thing I know beyond a doubt--
My heart is not by meetings held.
Adrift, my mind begins to roam
Through fields of unenlightened gloom.
No purpose serves to rescue me
From idle, pointless reverie.
Should I burst out in violent speech,
If only to invoke relief?
It would restore a living beat
To blood grown sluggish and asleep.
Foolish, self-destructive methods
Must be firmly put behind me.
For the present, only patience
Will protect me from my ruin.
