Yes, this life is mostly show,
But what becomes of the actors
After the curtain falls?
Do they attend cast parties,
Then melt into the night,
Riding home in slow taxis?
Or do they reassemble for an encore
In a place where every face
Looks familiar to them all?
This venue is the Everlasting Hall.
Each performance is unique--
The players never miss their cues,
And if they do, they are forgiven.
On this stage, the ages are revealed to be
A rehearsal for the benefit of all.
Everything adds to our understanding;
In the end, compassion is the cure.
