Habits Wear Away at Her
for Edithanne O'Neill
She spends each morning
Sending out vibrations
Meant to calm her fears;
By lunchtime she's exhausted.
The afternoon is taken up
With sifting through old rubbish--
Stooping to examine
Each unclaimed, tarnished item.
In the evening, she relates
The day's routine events
To her inattentive partner.
But when her midnight dreams
Take hold, she senses an immense
Passion that eludes her.
