Don't Cross This Cat
Don't cross this cat, or overstay
Your welcome, careless friend.
His claws hold enemies at bay;
He'll conquer in the end.
This cat is not like other cats--
He keeps his dignity
About him at all times, and that's
A lovely thing to see.
Except, perhaps, when rolling in
Alyssum in our yard;
He then displays the faintest grin
While letting down his guard.
But most of all, he loves to sleep
Along my side at night.
That's when he purrs both loud and deep;
Such passion must be right!
