Could anyone else's concrete ambitions
Dovetail so seamlessly with mine?
It's not about status or clout,
Or even comfort as the greatest goal.
We don't require the acquisition of much,
Just some gopher baskets and a bit of soil
To help our garden grow, and a somewhat
Civilised school for our daughter to attend.
We wonder how others socialise so often,
Never spending time on their craft.
They may think us daft, which is fine,
Since we're not required to dine with them.
One other quality we share, now that
You've imparted its importance to me--
Undiluted thankfulness for what we have.
Call it gratitude for our condition.
