Professor
Stephen J. Cocconi
teaches for the College of Professional Studies at the Sacramento and Roseville
Extension Campuses in both the Information Systems Management and Education
Departments.
His classes include ISM 410 - New Software Paradigms, ISM 310 - Introduction to Management Information Systems, ISM 422 - Multimedia Practice and Projects, ISM 430 - Project Management, and Educational Technologies. Mission and StyleA natural-born teacher and always a student at heart, his philosophy of learning is to “translate confusing terms and complex concepts into understandable English, useful metaphors and analogies.” Professor Cocconi designs curriculum for the “lay person” creating a bridge between the subject matter and the human being. Students are met at their own level and given a leg-up to meet the instructor's goals for the class. This approach facilitates the student moving past levels of fear and apprehension of what is often-times a first introduction to the subject matter, and into mastery of the material. But, it is his method that his mastery…Entertainment Style Instruction (ESI). "I realized a long time ago that humor makes people feel engaged. It can help simplify hard-to-do tasks by easing the tension threshold and raising the enjoyment factor." HistoryProfessor Cocconi holds degrees in both Economics and Psychology from California State University, Chico. He has been involved with the Internet since 1995 and is a consultant with his own business, Old Sour Dough Concoctions. He began with a small web-design firm in Walnut Creek, CA Internet University of America, where he developed their Web-Design curriculum and was a project manager. Currently, he serves as Adjunct Faculty with Los Medanos Commuity College in Pittsburg, CA where he has helped coordinate both the Web-Design and E-commerce curriculum. With a 15-year background in the world of professional and self-development seminar delivery; and organizational team-building with his own company, The Michael Teaching©, he brings an awareness of human communication and learning styles to his teaching. |
