Course Learning Objectives:


 

I. Lectures & Discussion:

a.

Most material in the textbook will be covered by lecture/discussions. Every student is expected to read assigned chapters before class and be ready to participate in discussion.

b.

Additional material will be given on topics outside the textbook or on theory and practice of lab/field techniques.

 *Evaluation: Written test I & II.......total 200points

 

II. Field Work and Identification of Marine Organisms:

a.

Field identification of common organism to genus/species.

b.

Use the Keys: Identify algae, invertebrates, and fishes to species.

c. Documentation:

Maintain a pocket size field notebook and a check list of the coast on a computer in the lab.

*Evaluation: Field oral/written test.....total 100 points 

Lab open book keying down to species....total 100points

 

III. Research Project

Lab, field or library project of the students own choice....100points 

*Evaluation: Oral and written report....total 500points
