Subject Matter Program - Teaching (BA) - Public school teacher/coach, private school teacher/coach, junior college teacher/coach, clubs recreation leader, community center leader, sports facilities manager, research scientist, exercise physiologist, sports sociologist, sports physiologist, athletic trainer, sports public relations specialist, fitness consultant, industrial recreation leader, resort sports coordinator, health and safety director, adaptive physical education specialist, recreational therapist, lifetime sports specialist, biodynamicist, pre-physical therapist, athletic director for high school or college.
Sports Management (BA) - Program provides students with the background and qualifications needed for sports-business oriented careers. Sporting goods sales, management, promotion, marketing, manufacturing. Sports media promotion, editing, administration, publicity. Management of sports teams, sports clubs, sports facilities, recreation facilities. Resort sports coordination.
Pre-Physical Therapy (BS) - Physical therapy - hospital, private/public, athletic training, sports medicine, rehabilitation specialist. Those not going on to graduate programs in physical therapy can find alternative careers in Exercise Physiology/Fitness.
Exercise Physiology/Fitness (BA) - This emphasis offers students opportunities to probe the mechanisms underlying performance in physical and sports activities. Research scientist, exercise physiologist, fitness consultant, industrial fitness teacher, junior college, university, cardiovascular testing, sports physiologist, fitness center program planner.
Pre-Occupational Therapy (BA) - Occupational therapy is based on the use of everyday activities as the means of helping people to achieve independence. It looks at psychological and social concerns, as well as physical factors, in assisting people to function in home, school, or work environments. Unlike physical therapy, it also provides services promoting functional independence for persons with mental illness. Occupational therapy - hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing homes, mental health centers, physician practices, home health agencies, schools, residential care and day care facilities. Advancement opportunities exist in management specialization, teaching, research, or private practice.
