John A. Robertson holds the Vinson and Elkins Chair at the University
of Texas School of Law at Austin. A graduate of Dartmouth College
and Harvard Law School, he has written widely on law and bioethics
issues, including the book, The Rights of the Critically Ill and numerous articles on reproductive rights, organ transplantation
and human experimentation. A Fellow of the Hastings Center, he
has served on a federal Task Force on Organ Transplantation, on
the National Institutes of Health Panel on Fetal Tissue Transplantation
Research, and is currently Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee of
the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. He is the author
of Children of Choice: Freedom and the New Reproductive Technologies (Princeton, 1994).
