Richard Lewontin is the Alexander Agassiz Professor of Zoology at Harvard University and Professor of Population Sciences in the Harvard School of Public Health. He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard and his M.A. and Ph.D. in zoology from Columbia University. Professor Lewontin is an evolutionary geneticist who works on the genetic structure of natural populations, particularly at the molecular level. He is also active as a philosopher of science and has co-authored a number of papers on questions of evolutionary theory and its relation to social issues. In this connection he has written several books including Biology and Ideology, Not In Our Genes, and Human Diversity. He has served on the editorial and advisory boards of numerous scientific journals.
