Susanne Huttner is director of two biotechnology programs at the University of California: the Systemwide Biotechnology Research and Education Program and the BioSTAR Project. She works with UC's nine campuses, three affiliated National Laboratories, and the Agriculture Experiment Station to identify emerging opportunities and needs for biotechnology research and graduate training. In the BioSTAR Project, she directs an industry-university partnership initiative that both supports research collaborations between University scientists and California biotechnology companies and promotes technology transfer. Dr. Huttner serves on the boards of several scientific, public policy, and public education organizations. She has a bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D in neurobiology from UCLA.
