Biology Department Semester Awards

Each semester the Biology Department will recognize Biology majors who rank among the five highest academic achievers for the previous semester. Each will be honored with a certificate of merit and a purse. 

Eligibility:

• Declared Biology majors who have completed at least two semesters at USF as continuing full-time students and were declared majors for the semester of the award ­i.e. if you are applying in Fall 2006 you must have been a declared major in Spring 2006.
  
  
• Applicants must be a full time student at USF in Spring 2007, or a December 2006 graduating senior (full or part time).
• All Biology majors with a science GPA of 3.4 or above for the semester are urged to apply.

• Awardees are eligible each succeeding semester.

Process:

·        In the third week of each semester a Biology faculty awards committee will review applications submitted by Biology majors.

·        The application forms, explaining the required with information necessary and the due date, are available in the Department Office.

·        The Science GPA includes all biology, chemistry, and physics courses taken in the award semester that are either requirements for any of these three majors or are designated support courses for these majors.

·        Applicants will be reviewed for the previous semester¹s achievement and overall science GPA.

·        Awardees will be notified within two weeks of the application deadline and the awards will be acknowledged publicly.
