We at "Back to da Roots" believe consumerism, over consumption and other forms of every day choices that detach individuals from a self-sustained life style has led to war, economic slavery, starvation and unnecessary suffering world wide. Through self-reliant/sustainable methods we will continuously explore hands on techniques to preserve the earth and live in peace with our communities, interact with and inform the USF, San Francisco, and greater communities through communal gardens, literature distribution, and gatherings.

MUN is a club modeled after the United Nations. Students will have the option to attend conferences throughout the school year where as a club, we will represent USF amongst other universities. It is an opportunity to learn about the structure of the United Nations and the issues that the United Nations have to work on. We will be discussing current events, international conflicts, and issues dealing with the international community as well as foreign policy and diplomacy.

STAND is an organization for concerned students to have opportunities to get involved in the efforts to end genocide all around the world. Stands four objectives include:

* Increase consciousness, both nationally and abroad, about presently occurring genocides
* Take nonpartisan political action for a swift and sustainable solution to the crisis
* Raise funds for humanitarian relief of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs)
* Coordinate national and international efforts to achieve the three goals above

The USF Fencing Club wishes through teaching the Olympic art of Fencing to expand the minds and hearts of students while helping to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Fencing is an art that develops both the mind and body in an environment that promotes respect and courtesy. In order to truly be able to help create a more humane world it is necessary for students to have an open mind and to experience as much as possible so as to have empathy for others and a vast array of skills to help the world with.

The USF Spanish Club will strive students to participate in cuturally and linguistically enrichening events held here in San Francisco. As a cohesive group representing the university, we will become active participants in the Spanish speaking communities of San Francisco in hopes of broadening students own cultural horizons.

The Philosophy Club is a group with the aim to conduct and host philosophical events on topics drawn from current events, literature, films, music, and any other aspect of life.  These events will allow for thought-provoking, respectful discussion with peers and professors in the absence of classrooms, grades, competition, or judgment, for in such a context, people may best develop and clarify their thoughts to themselves and others.

The purpose of the USF San Quentin TRUST Alliance is to help incarcerated men who have a desire to change themselves as well as their communities; to assimilate back into society as constructive and productive members of said free societies. This organization is an affiliation of the San Quentin TRUST (Teaching Responsibility Utilizing Sociological Techniques) promoting unity and solidarity between the development of incarcerated men and the community at large.
