Samuel North - “The Chair”
"Sam North has a very special gift for expressing private experiences in the public realm. He is both a talented artist and a fine craftsman in the great Bay Area tradition of unifying Art and Architecture into a single vision of human enjoyment, utility, and beauty.” --Seth Wachtel, Professor, Art + Architecture

(Thacher Student Showcase 2009)

Rachael Wiggins - “The Vessel of Womanhood”
“Rachael Wiggins is one of those dangerous students they warn you about: the quiet types who surprise you with their wit, insight, and humor. She doesn’t say much, but she’s got great craft ability as well as a really engaged eye. Her piece, “Vessel of Womanhood,” is elegantly constructed, and the unexpected choices involved (wood in place of cloth, hard surfaces in place of pliable) make it an object worthy of admiration” --Fr. Thomas Lucas, SJ, Professor, Art + Architecture

(Thacher Student Showcase 2009)

Carolyn Reilley - “Name it, Know it”
"Carolyn's project took place as an "experimental" assignment within my Advanced Typography class. I asked each student to develop a novel working process that would disable them from predicting the outcome of their finished project. Carolyn spent many difficult hours working with fire in an enclosed setting to get the effect that appears in her poster. I believe it to be an exciting and strongly successful work that represents that delicate balance between tolerance and intolerance within our culture." --Stuart McKee, Professor, Art + Architecture

(Thacher Student Showcase 2009)

Daniel Begay, Jovan Blake, Devon Durst, Jake Gulick, Alex Kieve, Irene Kim, Tricia Smith, and Kaci Taylor - “Lakota Sioux Cultural Arts Center”
“This team exemplifies the power of teamwork with a unified focus and sense of just social purpose…their design captures history and tradition while simultaneously reflecting modern circumstance and the promise of cultural optimism.” --Seth Wachtel, Professor, Art + Architecture

(Thacher Student Showcase 2009)

Samantha Roger - “Tilda”
“Samantha Roger is a very determined and incredibly hard working artist balancing multiple projects in multiples mediums. The entire fine arts faculty are very proud of her work ethic and ability to create a positive influence in department. Samantha has a great future in the arts.” --Eric Hongisto, Professor, Art + Architecture
