Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about taking private lessons, using practice rooms, joining a performance ensemble, or fulfilling the Minor requirements. To complete a Minor in Music requires 20 units in coursework: two core courses (Musicianship and History of Western Art Music) and three electives (see list below). Music electives come in the form of performing ensembles, private lessons, or academic studies. 4 of the 12 electives units must be an academic study of music; the remaining 8 units can come from mixing different types of elective classes to fulfill the total elective units. Most students participate in at least one year's worth of directed musical instruction. Many electives are offered each semester, but not all are offered every year. Check the USF registrar's office Live Schedule of Classes to see this semester's music course offerings and the time/location of classes.
