The future teacher must be hopeful in spirit, have a profound
regard for culture and human interaction, and be professionally skilled
at enabling students to reach their highest potential and master 21st
century challenges. Eligible USF students generally enter the Dual Degree
in Teacher Preparation (DDTP) program in their freshman year. The DDTP
Program is cooperatively sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences
and the School of Education.
The DDTP Program has been especially designed to serve students who have
shown an interest in teaching as a career through their past educational
experiences, service in the community, and dedication to work with children
and youths.
In completing the DDTP program, you will have fulfilled
the requirements for:
a California Teaching Credential (Multiple or Single
Subject)
(issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing)
The program is designed to be completed in approximately
five academic years.
* Other emphases available: MA in Educational
Technology or Teaching of ESL. Note: the time to complete one of these
other Master’s options is longer than the traditional Master of
Arts in Teaching Degree.
