The future teacher must be hopeful in spirit, have a profound regard for culture and human interaction, and be professionally skilled at enabling students to reach their highest potential and master 21st century challenges. Eligible USF students generally enter the Dual Degree in Teacher Preparation (DDTP) program in their freshman year. The DDTP Program is cooperatively sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education.

The DDTP Program has been especially designed to serve students who have shown an interest in teaching as a career through their past educational experiences, service in the community, and dedication to work with children and youths.

In completing the DDTP program, you will have fulfilled the requirements for:

  1. a Bachelor's Degree
  2. a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree (*other emphases available)
  3. a California Teaching Credential (Multiple or Single Subject)
(issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing)

The program is designed to be completed in approximately five academic years.

* Other emphases available: MA in Educational Technology or Teaching of ESL. Note: the time to complete one of these other Master’s options is longer than the traditional Master of Arts in Teaching Degree.
