The Debate Team's goal is to expand the role of ethical and engaged public debate and advocacy at USF and in the community. Team members participate in public debates about contemporary social and political issues and competition at intercollegiate tournaments.

2014 - 2015 events:
Debate Team member Mike Epley, a junior in Communication Studies, competed at the Northern California Forensics Association Season Opener September 26 – 28, 2014 and walked away with a handful of awards. Mike took 2nd Place, Open Lincoln-Douglas Debate (out of 55 students) and 5th Place Speaker, Open Parliamentary Debate (out of 120 students). Twenty-nine regional schools participated in the tournament. “Debate keeps you interested in what’s going on in the world,” Mike said. “If you like to win or are interested in competition, debate is a rewarding way to be a competitor.”
