There is an exciting new graduate program offered by the McCarthy Center. Beginning in the fall of 2010, USF will welcome its first cohort of students working towards a Masters degree in Public Affairs.
The Graduate Program in Public Affairs and Practical Politics provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective political action by merging hands-on experiences with rigorous graduate seminars to bridge theory and praxis. It allows students to apply their skills outside of the traditional classroom setting to create positive change in their communities and in the political system.
This new one-of-a-kind program is intended for recent graduates interested in translating an interest in public affairs and politics into a career in public service for the common good. Graduates are enabled to pursue careers that make a difference in non-profits, governmental offices, political entities, and the private sector. Key features of the program include core courses in writing, statistics, and ethics taught by USF faculty and elective courses taught by prominent practitioners in their fields.
