Environmental Management Graduate Program
How to Apply
Apply Online for Fall Admission! Or, Request an Application Packet.
The M.S. in Environmental Management program starts each fall (late August). This program does not accept applications for the spring semester. The priority application date is:
- March 1 for fall admission
For priority consideration for admission, applicants are encouraged to submit all of their application items to USF’s Office of Graduate Admission several weeks before the application date of March 1. Applications may be reviewed after the deadline on a space-available basis until April 1.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree with some education and/or professional background in chemistry. If an applicant completed undergraduate studies a number of years ago, a refresher course in chemistry may be recommended by the Admissions Committee. Such short, intensive, conveniently scheduled chemistry courses are offered at UC Berkeley Extension and San Francisco City College, among others.

Tests and GPA Requirements
The GRE (Graduate Record Exam) is not required for this graduate program.
An official TOEFL score is required of international applicants. A minimum TOEFL score of 79 (internet-based) or 550 (paper-based) is required for consideration. After review of an application, coursework in USF's Intensive English Program may be recommended or required. The USF school code for the GRE and the TOEFL is 4850.
Applicants to graduate school typically hold a 2.7 GPA or higher in their undergraduate degree and a 3.0 GPA or higher in courses in their undergraduate major. Financial Aid Application
If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you can apply for a U.S. federal student loan at www.fafsa.ed.gov. All U.S. students who have not defaulted on a previous federal student loan are eligible for $18,500 each year for graduate studies. Students can accept all or any part of this amount (students indicate amount on the "financial aid award letter") during the federal student loan application process.
All applicants (U.S. and international) are automatically considered for a small number of limited scholarships offered by the Environmental Management program. No separate application is required. These scholarships are limited and do not significantly affect the costs of tuition and living expenses for graduate students in this program. International students should not rely on these scholarships to defray their costs during studies.
