Cornelia Van Cott obtained her undergraduate degree from Wheaton College (Wheaton, Illinois), where she majored in mathematics and minored in music. She received her Ph.D. from Indiana University in 2008 where she studied geometric topology under the supervision of Charles Livingston. While at Indiana University, Cornelia obtained a three year graduate fellowship sponsored by the National Science Foundation, as well as a dissertation year fellowship from Indiana University. She joined the faculty at USF in the fall of 2008. Her research interests lie in the areas of knot theory and low dimensional topology, with particular focus on the interplay between three and four-dimensional topology observed in the knot concordance group.
