Jeffrey Paris
Associate Professor: Philosophy
|
Jeffrey Paris received his Ph.D. in 1998 from Purdue University. His areas of interest include continental political philosophy, critical theory, existentialism and postmodern theory, and feminist philosophy. He is the Managing & Assistant Editor of the Radical Philosophy Review, the Treasurer of the North American Sartre Society, the Secretary of the Peace & Justice Studies Association, and the Pacific Division Co-Chair of the North American Society for Social Philosophy.
He is also a volunteer instructor in the San Quentin College Program, teaching courses in Philosophy to inmates. He is currently working on a comprehensive philosophy of mass imprisonment, and has published articles on both imprisonment and service learning in prisons.
At USF, Jeffrey is involved in the Peace & Justice Studies Program, the Legal Studies/Criminal Justice Studies program, Peace Review, the Criminology Working Group, and the Human Rights Working Group.
He was awarded the 2005 USF Faculty Service Learning Merit Award, and the 2006 Distinguished Teaching Award.
