Biography

  Noriko Nagata
Chair and Professor: Modern and Classical Languages

Noriko Nagata received her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Her areas of interest include artificial intelligence applications to computer-assisted language instruction, second language acquisition, and Japanese linguistics. She teaches Japanese language, linguistics, and culture, and has engaged in natural language processing research for over 15 years. She is the winner of the 2004-2005 USF Distinguished Research Award, based on ROBO-SENSEI: Personal Japanese Tutor (the first artificial intelligence Japanese language software package available).
