M. Scott McElwain
Professor Emeritus: Politics and Program Director: European Studies
|
Scott McElwain received his B.A. in political science at USF and has a Ph.D. in international relations from the Claremont Graduate University. He has previously been chair of the Department of Politics and is presently coordinator of the European Studies minor. In addition to courses on European politics, McElwain teaches International Law, American Foreign Policy, Politics of Peace and War, and World Politics Since 1945.
McElwain's publications include articles and reviews on United States policy towards East-Central Europe. His current research focuses on recent developments in relations between Europe and the United States with particular emphasis on Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
McElwain won the University Distinguished Teaching Award in 1988 and the College Service Award in 1989. In 2001, he helped establish the USF in Budapest program, a unique opportunity for full-time undergraduate students to study and travel in Europe. He served as on-site faculty member at USF in Budapest for the 2003-2004 academic year.
