Using strips of flattened cardboard, staples and shellac, Ann Weber creates voluptuous geometric sculptures. Based primarily on the circle and cylinder, her sculptures are often comprised of interlocking pairs, suggesting intimacy and "symbols of life, male and female, and the origin of all forms in nature." Pushing her materials to their limits, the final forms have the warm sheen of polished bronze and the weighty presence of prehistoric menhirs. This exhibition is being held in conjunction with the opening of "Spirit and Matter," the premier exhibition of USF's new Sculpture Terrace on the roof of Kalmanowitz Hall.
