This course in business strategy focuses on integrative, multi‑functional approaches to the solution of organizational issues and problems. A systematic perspective, rather than an elemental one, is stressed both in theory (via lecture/discussion sessions) and in application (via case analysis and simulated decision making). The ultimate objective of the course is to instill in students the "general top management problem solving perspective". Such a perspective by definition, multifunctional and integrative in nature and requires striking a delicate balance among relevant disciplines. Otherwise, organizational analysis discussions easily revert to purely financial, marketing, organization, behavior or production problems. Thus, the focus is on problems or issues, which involve considerations from all functional areas.
